New York, NY

Like the many chocolate joints opening up in the city such as Max Brenner, Jacques Torres, etc, Australian Homemade tries to break into this saturated market by bringing their own unique flavors and styles to the public. After only hearing about this place from softrice I decided to scour this place after my hearty lunch at Pylos for a nice cup of hot chocolate.

This shop really isn’t that big. The only thing that you can order are drinks and ice cream and there are just a few seats for you to sit in. There was no problem finding a seat because most of the time it was really empty. People don’t stay here to drink, they take it to go.

Their chocolates are designed uniquely, but it just didn’t look that appetizing to me. One piece costs $1.95, 3 for $5.95, and etc. Pretty expensive, but I’m sure it tastes pretty good.
Alright time to order my hot chocolate.

Price: $4.95
Verdict: Mm, this is a nice cup of hot chocolate. It tastes nothing like the swiss hot cocoa mix probably this isn’t one of those instant drinks. This is very rich in chocolate flavor, like a very milky flavor with a hint of minty sweetness. This is indeed an unique drink and you have to try it just once.
Recommended: Yes
Dawen ordered the mochacinno:

I usually don’t like mocha-ccinos, but this one tastes pretty good. It was sweet and creamy, but it didn’t have a lot of froth which is what I would have preferred. It also had a hint of chocolate that makes this drink a little extra special.
Recommended: Yes
As I was sipping away with Dawen, we suddenly felt the need to have an ice cream since we were surrounded by ice cream everywhere!

So we decided to order a pistachio ice cream!

Verdict: For a pistachio flavored ice cream, this is very minty. I can’t say I like it that much because of this new flavor, but it is definitely a unique try.
Recommended: If you’re a fan of pistachio, go for it, if not, dont even bother.

And this place is great to for gifts!
I definitely would recommend you guys to stop by and try out their chocolate drinks.

This place looks like a local joint that profits off chocolate craves of passerbyers. Not as fancy or sexy as Jacques Torres on Hudson Square, though the one in Brooklyn is smaller than this, but with a sexier chocolate vibe. Perhaps Max Brenner still does chocolate food the best. Payard on the UES is good too. You might want to give that a try!
Yo, I did my stalking for KATRA (http://www.katranyc.com/), and they have all positive reviews. I’m surprised. Over 70 on CitySearch, and they’re all positive. I’ve never seen that before! Free bottles too, if you buy 3, I think. Belly dancing, and all that. Great drinks, good food, we need to go! Happy hour cocktails are only for $6 too!
mmm FYI my friend actually had these chocolates a long time ago, I could’ve tried them, but I skipped the chance lol. O well…..but yea I believe the chocolate are quite good….she got a whole box from her b/f. Each chocolate has a different “picture” and represents something, I think they explain it to you or something…..
$5 for a cup of hot chocolate that I don’t think I will taste the difference? No thanks lol.
Mochaccino’s I like!
To continue. I posted up the pics of the gundams in new poses
Take care!~
Taj got mad bad reviews. Not interested anymore. I think they just took what didn’t work and made KATRA. Katra has better music and reviews. Would like to go for happy hour sometime. Yes?
Hey, in an NYMag article today, they started to use the health inspection report of nyc to bash on a restaurant, Nello. Lol. Copying you. Too bad you didn’t have the reports on Pylos and Australian Homemade. Thought that was ongoing. What happened?
do you have a Friendly’s restaurant in NYC? never seen one. anyway, Friendly’s makes the best pastachio ice cream with pastachios in it and it’s green like the mint color but there’s no mint flavor it in. plus it smells great! but to me, it just takes like regular vanilla ice cream with nuts in it. but i eat it because it smells real nice and it’s green
I find out that when I put links down, the comment doesn’t post. I wanted to show you nycmarriagebureau.com so that you can marry Dawen for $35 bucks!
I’m getting bad reviews for chickpea, but I don’t trust them entirely. Will try. Read critics to get a diversified opinion, but I will make my own judgements. i still want to go because it’s cheap and affordable and something different. But Katra seems sexier. What to do?
I still remember Ammmos. What to do? And damn, girl, what’s taking you, still not on?
i just gave sweet ol’ rice-puddings a list of what my ideal man should be… do you think that type of person exists? it’s hard to find a punk boy who doesn’t work at the local grocery store and has a real job…
damnit tiffer-the-armpit-sniffer! you need a link to your name so i can quickly go to your blog page!
actually Friendly’s improved their menu a lot! they’re food has gotten better. and their dessert icecreams are always great
Word to the link. She’s right. An acceptable violation here. When are you going to Jacques Torres? Which location? Brooklyn or Hudson Square? If you go to Hudson, have dinner in WV or in Dani nearby.
We really should go to Katra sometime. Do you want to bar hop? Happy hour is 6 to 8 or something? Where’d you read the bad reviews? I haven’t found any on them. We can go to Mannahatta for drinks down the block, and then head down to LES for more drinks at Verlaine and other clubs down there. I can show you around.
Why the fuck are you doing Shanghai tonight? Where are you going?
Go do Katra instead and show me pictures! It’s Indian food with great drinks and brilliant decor!
It’s $35 to get a marriage license that lasts for 60 days. This is the gov’s temporary permit for you to get married. You need to pay another $25, either at the marriage office, or in a church, to perform a ceremony to get marriaged. As in, reading the rites and signing the papers. Then you get your cert of marriage later in the mail within 4 weeks.
What the softrice is wrong with you?!? Siew Long Baow?!?!?? NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! Where you going? Joe’s Shanghai? I want pictures!
No Shanghai. Go do veggie! I want my pictures! If you do Shanghai, you better go to Joe’s Shanghai or New Green Bo. Why not Peking Duck?!? I want pics of veggie! Oh. You suck. So, I’m not waiting for the Summer to go to Katra. I want to go. Like. Yesterday. Katra! Go to Katra tonight!
Bar hop means hitting more places with less time.
Where’s Kim? She’s missing out.
i’d do shanghai tonight but it’s such late notice. my mom already cooked the rice for 4 people at this time, so if i back out she will get mad. but definitely next time.
online dating is a big no-no. though i know a few people who’ve done it with no problems. but i dont trust people online too much.
beside people online are usually always different in person.
just like me right? ramble online but barely talk in person…
What’s wrong with you? Don’t do Shanghai! That’s so whack. I want pics of the veggie place!
yes, i have a DQ near my home. nothing fantastic. it’s like johnny rockets but without the theme. oh look, another reason why you should come out to see what suburbia is like… and it’s not in the middle of nowhere. and there are no sheeps and pig in my back yard.
I guess you’re done for the day? Shanghai. Blah. My ass! You suck!
are bernie and linda real people?
