This halal cart is famous for its chicken and rice platter. As you may see many other vendors like this one, the taste and quality of the food is completely different. Every day there is a long line queued with many hungry New Yorkers as well as tourists just to get a taste of this delicious platter. The line moves very quickly and the wait is definitely well worth the wait.

As you are waiting on line, you menu choices are as follows:
Platters
- Chicken w/Rice
- Lamb w/Rice
- Combo of Chicken and Lamb w/Rice
*Comes with salad and sliced up pita bread. Sauces come in white sauce, bbq sauce, and hot sauce. All the sauces come in a small container so that you can put as much or as little as you want. If you’re a hot sauce lover, let the vendor guy know because the sauce comes in mild to very spicy and most of the time he’ll just give you the mild one.

Chicken & Rice
If you don’t want it in a platter, you can also have it like a sandwich that comes in a form of a gyro with any of the choices listed above.
After about five minutes of waiting in the cold, my co-workers and I sit by the nearby benches and started eating. In my experience, I learned that chicken and rice is best served when it’s hot! If you don’t mind, you should spend a few minutes of your time and sit outside to enjoy your food. This just doesn’t taste as good when you take it back home to reheat it. The properties of the flavor just aren’t the same, so I would strongly recommend you to eat it there.
*I have to warn you, your hands can get pretty greasy when you’re pouring the sauce and then capping it. It will help if you have a stack of napkins.
I strongly recommend everyone to get the combo! I found the chicken to be a little dried at times, but the lamb is definitely moist and flavorful. My co-worker who had chicken and rice for the first time ended up drenching the rice with white and hot sauce. If there was a little bit of lamb in it, you wouldn’t need to add so much sauce. The lamb does not taste gamey at all! I never really liked lamb because of this particular reason, but these halal guys make it so good that you can almost confuse it for beef!
I didn’t take a picture of my combo, but I did for my co-worker’s chicken and rice. It looks pretty much the same but without the shredded lamb. The combination of the rice, meat, salad and sauce is just heaven! If you’re in New York, definitely stop by and treat yourself for some delicious chicken, lamb, and rice!

I wish they had food like this around here. I like how they can make the food delicious by keeping the dishes simple. You didn’t mention the price. I imagine it’s less than 5 dollars. Great food + affordable price = long crowds and happy faces.

chkn n rice is the best!!!!!
I love chicken and rice!!! I was a vegetarian before I ate here!!!!
I finally tried Chicken & Rice for the first time last week. Your review was very accurate. I got the combo and enjoyed the lamb much more than the chicken. The chicken was a little dry so it needed a lot of white sauce. The combination of chicken, rice, pita bread, white sauce, and hot sauce was incredible!
Speaking of which, I have to update this with new pictures cause I’ve been going so often to eat there after late nite drinking!
