Here’s how the Pineapple Bun with Red Bean Paste filling looks when cut in half. Keep in mind that it is extremely difficult to slice in half a bun thats soft. You’ll either crumble the crust or completely smash up the bun. It took some extreme care to slice it, even then, it smooshed just a bit.

Hi Guy,
Never tried the bean paste version of the pineapple bun but I love the custard (yellow) filling.
If you like bean paste, definitely go for it, definitely love the egg filling too.
Dear Finechinaguy,
I used to go to the Tip Top Cafe/Bakery many, many years ago on the island of Kauai to buy their black bean or red bean? cookies or pastries. Delicious!
I recently went back, but they no longer sell these pastries.
Can you tell me where I can purchase black bean or red bean cookie/pastries in Orange County, CA? It would be much appreciated!
Thanks very much!
Sorry but I have never been to Orange County. I would suggest looking up the nearest Chinese bakery though
