Peter Luger Steakhouse (Williamsburg, Brooklyn)
Now this is a post that I’ve been dying to write about. I have passed by this for years everytime I cross over the Williamsburg Bridge and the area in general. My parents worked right down the street and I would pass by that constantly. I always wanted to go there since I was young but it always seemed out of reach. Well, Finechinagirl took me there for a birthday and made my wish come true!
More after the jump!
Make reservations, it gets very packed, especially over the weekend. Even with reservations, you might have to wait a bit till a table opens up. The Bar area is big, right at the entrance but many people are waiting for their table there. The Steakhouse is definitely old, it still carries the old Tavern feel in every aspect.

Peter Luger Steakhouse Menu
After about a 15 minute wait, we were seated in one of two dining areas and our server greeted us, they’re all friendly fellas. Our server had been working there for ages.

Peter Luger Steakhouse Gravy Boat (Peter Luger Steak Sauce)
Here’s the famous Peter Luger Steak Sauce in their Gravy Boat. It’s a thin sweet sauce, sweetness from molasses. Personally, I can do without the sauce but Finechinagirl loved it. I like my steak aged, seasoned, and grilled to perfection without sauce. The bread on the other hand was delicious and fresh. We had to try a bit of the different breads without filling up while we waited for the T-Bone we ordered.

Peter Luger Steakhouse T-Bone Steak
Now here’s the T-Bone Steak! The server brought it out on a huge plate. This was a steak for Two ($80) and it was huge! 1 inch thick and definitely the size of two large steaks. It looked perfect. The server cut it up on the spot (which blocked my camera from taking pictures during the process, you’ll have to experience it yourself) into thick chunks. It made my mouth water just watching it. They also have different cuts of course and individual servings as well as a Family Serving.
Cooked to Medium Rare, it was perfectly pink and red on the inside and brown on the outside. It’s smell filled the area and boy did it smell good. After being cut up, the server put the slices onto our plates and even scooped some of the Potato Hash onto our plates for us.

After a bit of chatting while the server waited on us, we were ready to eat! The steak was delicious! Everything a good steak should be, moist and tender, seasoned perfectly where it wasn’t too salty or peppery. The outside was a bit burnt on the edges which I love. It lives up to its reputation of being a great Steak. Eating this was a carnivore’s dream, it was fantastic. I savored every bite until I could swallow no more. I had to abandon eating the sides so I can have more of this wonderful steak.

The Potato Hash was delicious but be sure not to fill up. We also had a Caesar Salad which was nothing special (Finechinagirl loves salad but as I always said, ‘You don’t win friends with Salad’).

That was all the steak the two of us could manage eating! I mean this thing was huge. I had never seen such a big steak in my life before.

Peter Luger Steakhouse Interior
As you can see, there is alot of old people, business men, even families. We were probably the youngest couple there. After we finished what we could, we were given a few Peter Luger Gold Chocolate Medallion.

We finished just about half of the steak. We had to take the rest home. It will be a steak I will never forget. In the mean time, I have been dying to go back and try their Signature Porter House. That will be the next target for my appetite and my stomach will be prepared! Thanks to Finechinagirl, it was a birthday to remember. She outdoes herself every year.

wow, just look at the diversity in that restaurant. >.<
here’s one of my friend’s cats. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcGO5S-ZT0A
her name is Simian and I love her the most! she’s all grown and still look very small compared to the other two. I’ll try to upload pics to show you them
that steak looks yummmmmmy! but $80 for two is toooooo pricey for my taste buds
Trust me, $80 for a good steakhouse isn’t too expensive! If you try manhattan, oh man it can be pretty expensive! It can be over $50 for one person for a piece of steak! I went to Top Chef’s Tom Colicchio’s restaurant, Craftsteak, which I have to make a post of, and the bill for two people was $140 including tips.
If you’re an avid steak lover, you gotta try it at least once in your life! Maybe when you become a $$$ doctor you should stop by and give it a shot! ^_- At least it’s a bargain when compared to the other restaurants.

Yeah, I agree w/ finechinagirl. Luger steaks are pretty good and quite expensive but steak dinners in nyc are expensive anyways.
IMO I can make a steak just as good as Lugers’. Season it, fry it, grill it – 6mins for a steak abt a inch and a half. And serve w/ aparagus or potatoe and Luger steak sauce. The sauce is a unique sweet sauce. I love steak
I love a good steak. I am going to make some tonight
