Having never heard of Five Guys Famous Burgers and Fries until recently (I know, where have I been?! Stuck in the office too long!) and having only eaten In N Out Burger this past summer when I was in California (absolutely delicious by the way), I was all too happy to raid this burger joint. My Australian friend, Gary, wanted to hit a Greasy, fatty, delicious Burger spot before we hit the bar and him leaving the States for his home down under. I was recommended this place.

Five Guys Famous Burgers and Fries Queens NY

Five Guys Famous Burgers: Juicy Cheese Burger
Late one friday night, my group of, wait for it… Five Guys… No really it was five of us guys! We wanted a good burger dinner before hitting up Barcade in Williamsburg. Did this place hit the spot of five hungry guys? The pictures will do most of the speak. More after the jump!

Five Guys Famous Burgers and Fries

Five Guys Famous Burgers: Bags of Peanuts
Be warned, if you are allergic to Peanuts, this is not the place for you! The peanuts sacks stacked, which you don’t see everyday, is refreshing to greasing up food with. They grind it up on the spot for frying up the fries.

Five Guys Famous Burgers: Burger and Cajun Fries

Five Guys Famous Burgers: Regular Fries and Cajun Fries (overflowed with fries in the paper bag!)
The fries from the order spilled out of the bag pretty much so expect a lot, at least in Queens anyway. Two normal people would be able to share a cup of these babies. These fries are cut from real potatoes so don’t be surprised when you can actually taste real potatoes! We had a mixed reaction to these as some of us preferred crunchy fries and some of us liked potato wedges. The Cajun fries were what really hit the spot. The kick of spiciness just added to the tastiness of the fries.

Five Guys Famous Burgers Big Juicy Cheese Burger with Lettuce Tomatos Pickles

Five Guys Famous Burgers: Juicy Cheese Burger
Doesn’t that look evil yet delicious and fatty? All the burgers are made from Fresh 100% Ground Beef and we could all taste it. Juicy and not overdone although one of my friends would have liked it medium rare. The big mess of cheese and sauce along with toppings was awesome. We all had different toppings and sauces, the combinations ranging from basics of lettuce, tomatoes to onions, jalapenos and pickles was refreshing. It also made us very indecisive. We stood a good few minutes before we just gave up and randomly picked a bunch of toppings. If you can’t finish a big burger or can’t stand its 1000 calories for a bacon cheese burger, go with their smaller size at two thirds the calories. A full meal of a burger, fries and drink will be about 2000 calories, your suggested daily dose. My opinion is if you’re eating at a place like this, you won’t be worried about calories! Or amount of grease for that matter.

Five Guys Famous Burgers: sit down with drink

Five Guys Famous Burgers: Huge Bite!
You can see how large the burger really is! We ate and we were filled to the max with fries left over. Greasy burgers with a mess of toppings really hit the spot for a bunch of guys. We all gave it thumbs up before we headed for the bar. Five Guys Burgers conquered by Five hungry guys.

The food here is alright but nothing really special. I just expected so much more with all the hoopla about how special their burger is compared to others. I think McD’s Angus burgers taste lot better.
I just don’t think cooking in peanut oil, fresh cooked meat, special pattying process, etc. in the end didn’t really add that much more to the flavor.
Next time you’re there, check out the calorie content for large fries. The sight of it alone will kill you. I was so shocked.
i live by there and havent given it a chance yet! Those burgers look fantastic!
I used to live near barcade too. I love it there! I had my college grad party there a few years ago. memories! hope you had a blast!
