The Taco Truck

The Taco Truck

Tacos from a truck?  Yes, I was skeptical at first, but this truck attracts plenty of new and existing loyal customers everytime that it is parked here in Jersey City.  This truck is located one stop away from New York City, the Exchange Place stop, aka my take of a mini version of Wall Street of Jersey City.   There aren’t a lot of restaurants in the neighborhood, besides your usually Subways, Cosi, Au Bon Pain, Marker’s, Kitchen Cafe, Garguilo’s, and several others that might be of some walking distance.   There have been food trucks parked around like Nick and Perry’s and Lucinda’s, but none of them attract a crowd like The Taco Truck.

Having said that, my co-workers gave me the final push to come to this truck.   When we came here at 2pm, there was still a decent line.  Be warned that there is quite some wait before you get your food.  When you come here during rush hour, I hear that you can wait up to 40 minutes, so consider that before you take your trip over there.

Check of their website which I have above to see their menu.  I decided to go for the Pescado Taco, which has cubes of fried fish, a touch of Mexican cole slaw, pico de gallo (like a mexican salsa that has chopped onions, tomatoes, and green chiles w/a quarter of a slice of lime on the side) with Mexican tartar served on a soft shell taco/tortilla.   I ordered that with guacamole which is an addition $0.75.  All together, it is $4.75 and not including tax.  For a 6″ taco, that is pricy, but you’re paying for gourmet food which is completely worth it.

Also, check on their website to see who the culinary partner is.  All I can say is that he was educated in the famous Le Cordon Bleu institute and graduated with honors.  There is also a team of amazing culinary enthusiasts that makes the food here that much more delicious!

Pescado Tortilla

Pescado Tortilla

How savory and scrumptious is this fish taco?  There seems like a lot is going on, but when you pick up the taco and close the sides, the marriage of the flavors and the ingredients is simply amazing.  All the different textures and flavors makes the eating experience that much more exhilarating.  Everything tasted fresh because it was made from scratch from the time you put in your order.   This is the best taco I have ever tasted and I could definitely go for another one, except if it wasn’t so expensive.

Overall, you have to come to this truck and try any thing and everything here.  I also did try their Mexican Hot Chocolate which has cinnamon and brown sugar, which tasted like heaven especially on a cold winter day, and the Pollo Asado (chicken taco), which comes in two tacos and that tasted great as well.  I prefer the Pescado, but that was good as well.

There are many trucks in Jersey City now, but this truck outshines them all!

Until next time,

This taco truck looks great. I love it that they offer Mexican hot chocolate and hand sanitizer! Your tortilla looks amazing. The colors are a riot of colors and the food looks so fresh.
