When I was informed by one of my readers, Sasha, that the Student Biryani cart was no longer there, I was devastated. Please see my previous post by clicking on this link: Infamous Taste of Pakistan – Student Biryani Food Cart. My friend and I went over there to confirm if that was the case and it was. Honest to god in my humble opinion, this man whips one of of the best chicken biryani I have ever tasted. The flavors from that biryani is so diverse and intense (from saltiness to sweetness and spiciness) that makes it hard to resist. Not all biryani’s are created equal and you will definitely know when you have tried this. To know that it was my last time tasting something so unique and flavorful was of great sadness to me. But I can say with full confidence that the Student Biryani Food Cart is back with a fresh new look and attracting more customers than ever.
The question my friend and I always wanted to be answered was, where in the world did the food cart disappeared to for all those months?? That biryani chief was going to be drilled by both of us like a cop interrogating an unsuspecting suspect.

*Second Update*
Great news! The Student Biryani truck is back but with a different look! They took off the red poster on the side of their truck and replaced it with LED neon light animated sign! Unfortunately I forgot to snap a photo for your viewing pleasure, but I will next time! My friend and I have spoke with the person there that night and apparently the Student Biryani truck was always there, but only during the day time. Since it was just one person working there, it was hard to take the night shift as well. Fortunately, this new guy is hired and he is working the night shift. Now, if you happen to be in the neighborhood, check him out! You can’t go wrong with $5 plus in my opinion you will have a damn good delicious meal!!
Until next time,
<3 FCG
*Update*
I was advised by my loyal readers that this Student Biryani cart is no longer there. I took a trip over there, not once but twice, just to see if this was the case, and unfortunately he’s no longer there. How disappointing.
If you happen to see this cart, hit me up!!

For those of you who doesn’t know, I am a HUGE fan of biryani! HUGE! My Pakistani friend Tahsin and Indian friend Leena was ever so generous to share with me their mother’s home cooked version of chicken biryani which I will share you pictures of. Both have obvious and similar ingredients like rice and the usage of chicken, but the seasonings and other spices is what separates them in taste and style. This is what I love about ethnic food. Check out my post on the Pakistani take on biryani.
I did not make a post on the Indian version of biryani but I will post you up a picture for you to see:
Day 3 – Nature’s Path Organic Flax Plus Pumpkin Raisin Cereal & Taco Truck
I like to emphasize how important it is to have a healthy breakfast. There are a lot of people out there, including some family and friends that I know that skip breakfast because either they don’t have the time to eat or think that they can lose weight by eating less. The rule of thumb, I believe, is to have a heavy yet healthy breakfast that offers you a combination of fiber, carbs, some proteins and lots of vitamins that your body will sorely need to power through the morning. This is the energy that your body needs the most to get working at burning fat. Key: Fat burning, not fat storing is important. And you do this by eating right. Yes, eating healthy will get your body burning the fat. Once you skip a meal or not eat at all, your body has nothing to work and therefore start storing this fat. So remember to eat! And eat healthy!!
By mid morning of course you can have a snack like a fiber one bar or some nuts or yogurt if you haven’t had that for breakfast and then throughout the day you can consume less. The more fiber you have, the less cravings you will have. I have personally learned this from my dear friend who has exemplified the physical embodiment of a healthy body and mind and also through Jillian Michael’s book, Master Your Metabolism.
Just remember, again, the human body is like a furnace. The only way it will start burning is when you give it some fuel and then it will burn faster and stronger over time.
Now, just like most working individuals, sometimes I don’t have time to eat as much as I want. So in the mornings, I find a way to eat a healthy bowl of cereal like this one:

The Taco Truck
Tacos from a truck? Yes, I was skeptical at first, but this truck attracts plenty of new and existing loyal customers everytime that it is parked here in Jersey City. This truck is located one stop away from New York City, the Exchange Place stop, aka my take of a mini version of Wall Street of Jersey City. There aren’t a lot of restaurants in the neighborhood, besides your usually Subways, Cosi, Au Bon Pain, Marker’s, Kitchen Cafe, Garguilo’s, and several others that might be of some walking distance. There have been food trucks parked around like Nick and Perry’s and Lucinda’s, but none of them attract a crowd like The Taco Truck.
Having said that, my co-workers gave me the final push to come to this truck. When we came here at 2pm, there was still a decent line. Be warned that there is quite some wait before you get your food. When you come here during rush hour, I hear that you can wait up to 40 minutes, so consider that before you take your trip over there.
Late Night Dinner: Chicken & Rice (Halal Guys NYC on 53rd/6th)
Halal Guys NYC
53rd & 6th Avenue (Next to the Hilton Hotel)
New York, NY
Operations: 7:30pm – 4:00am
This halal cart is famous for its chicken and rice platter. As you may see many other vendors like this one, the taste and quality of the food is completely different. Every day there is a long line queued with many hungry New Yorkers as well as tourists just to get a taste of this delicious platter. The line moves very quickly and the wait is definitely well worth the wait.
