After dinner at Lips, my friends Sarah and Katherine decided to bring us to a Korean bar and lounge for a few drinks since the night was still early. I apologize for not taking a lot of photos, but I can say is that this lounge is very fancy and definitely a hidden gem in the city! The atmosphere is very chilled and relaxed with low lighting and couches everywhere. The crowd was filled with young sophisticated and good looking Koreans between the ages of 21-35 and the music was half Korean and have hip -hop r&b. There’s this sleekness and modernness about the lounge that I loved so much. There are tables for dining and the Korean waitresses are very nice and accommodating.
Katherine decided to order a watermelon soju for everyone which I have never had before. But just the thought of it sounds so exciting and delicious to me!
Watermelon Soju at Third Floor Cafe
Even though I pretty much sworn off of alcohol, I wanted to have a taste of this. Sarah, who’s hand is in the picture with the little shot glass, was so adament on getting everyone to drink. This soju tastes like sweet fresh watermelon juice with a hint of soju which tasted great. I’m sure a few of these will get you buzzed, like two of our girls, and I will definitely recommend it!
Fruit Platter
Don’t forget to order a delicious fruit platter to help dilute the alcohol in your system!
Virgin Mango Daiquiri
What I love about this place is that they cater to people who don’t drink alcohol. I jumped at the chance of getting this mango daiquiri because it is my all time favorite! It is delicious as it looks!
Overall, if you want to have a good time with your friends, definitely come visit this Bar and Lounge. It does not get too packed, like how so bars are, and it is very chilled and enjoyable to be in. The music isn’t pumping loud, so you can definitely hold a conversation with your friends!
Until next time,

Bibimbap (Korean Dish)
Have you ever had Bibimbap before? If you ever had Korean food, you must have tried Bibimbap. I introduced this to a friend of mine, her first time eating at a Korean restaurant. She ended up loving the dish.
For those that never had Bibimbap, it is a Korean Mixed Dish consisting of a hot stone bowl filled with white rice, mixed sauteed vegetables, and Gochujang (Chili Pepper Paste). Sometimes, the dish is topped off with an Egg and a choice of Beef, Pork, Chicken or even Shrimp. Vegetables can be a variety depending on where you go to eat but almost always julienned. It can include mushrooms, daikon (Asian Radish), bean sprouts, lettuce and even tofu. All the vegetables on top with the egg creates a gorgeous palette of colors and of course appetizing. You won’t be able to resist once you see and smell it.
If you never had Bibimbap before, try it at your nearest Korean Restaurant. It is such a staple food that its almost impossible to screw this up! Mix thoroughly before eating the dish!

Debasaki Japanese Style Chicken, Flushing, NY – Part 2
My apologies for the delayed post! I will continue from part 1 and show you some of the dishes that I have tried at Debasaki.
First thing you must keep in mind when you’re seated is there is a red button, shown below, that you must press in order to call the waitress. If you don’t do that, you’ll end up sitting forever until you wonder why no one is showing up. I think that is unique because sometimes I don’t want to be rushed and want to call the waitress when I’m ready. Already this is a good sign of a good restaurant experience!

When you’re seated, the waitress will immediately bring you their complimentary Coleslaw which has honey mustard and mayo for the dressing.

Kimchi Fried Rice w/egg
This kimchi fried rice has spam in it! Yes spam and I was definitely excited! I know it might sound disgusting, but it actually went very well with this spicy dish! Sometimes you need that soft texture to balance out the hard texture of the fried rice. The egg made the dish even better, so I would highly recommend to try this!

Debasaki Japanese Style Chicken Restaurant
When my fellow Xangan, Azriha wrote a post on Debasaki, I KNEW, just knew that I have to come here. The number one reason being that this restaurant makes fried chicken with stuffing in it!! Just the concept alone is enough to win me over. Now, I have tried different kinds of fried chicken in which I classify by geography. American fried chicken is satisfying, but Korean fried is gourmet and very addictive. I have yet to try Japanese fried chicken, and I made it my mission to go there right after my gym work-out on Saturday. Yes, this is how passionately I feel for asian fried foods!
Understand that just because the restaurant advertised that it is Japanese Style Chicken, doesn’t mean it is runned by the Japanese. In fact, this place is runned by koreans! I don’t know where they got the recipe for Japanese fried chicken, but all I know is that it’s a great idea.
When Finechinaguy and I walked into the restaurant at 10pm, I thought I walked into a trendy lounge. It is dimly lit in there and there’s a stretch that you have you walk down in order to find the waitress. I felt like a model when I walked down that stretch because the whole room was pumped, literally pumped with clubbing music. Ok, Akon’s Dangerous was on, but later on there was other hip-hop, r&b, and pop! As I was walking down with ‘Guy, I noticed that there are booths, just like what my fellow Xanga mentioned.

Picnic Garden: Korean BBQ Buffet (Flushing, Queens)
Picnic Garden Barbeque Buffet

Update 2009/03/24: Appended to this post with new pictures!
This is possibly the only Korean BBQ BUFFET in town. I can’t think of any other left since Northern Buffet is gone. If anyone else knows of a Korean Buffet, please let us know. In the mean time, I’ll be going back to Picnic Garden for more!

Picnic Garden Korean BBQ Buffet
Parking is a problem since it’s metered outside during the day (except Sunday) and residential is dense, so not alot of parking at night. Be sure to circle around and look for parking. The buffet is fairly cheap at about $25/person and it feels like a family runned restaurant.
